Primal forces are at work when the David Miilmann Group (DMG) takes the stage, unleashing their genre-defying universe.
The five musicians use their instruments as their voice. Their performances are emotional, intense, and life-affirming as they navigate between composed pieces and improvisation, creating a unique experience shared with the audience.
With guitarist David Miilmann as the driving force and a shared passion for music, DMG invites listeners into a vibrant and uplifting community that also embraces shades of melancholy and introspection.
DMG released their debut album, 'Waiting for Myself,' in late summer 2021 and have followed up with their second album, 'What’s Left.' The band has achieved notable success with two DMA Blues nominations, being finalists in the Jazz Competition, and regular airplay on P8 Jazz.
“David Miilmann is an eminent slide guitarist, and he shares Derek Trucks' genre-defying playing style and tonal language. But you also hear echoes of Carlos Santana and Jeff Beck. David Miilmann Group puts musical elements together in their own way. You sense an artistic identity – and it also sounds really good!” - Jakob Wandam.
"So old-fashioned and exquisitely beautiful that the music is actually modern... Admittedly, it is quite overwhelming in an electronic, digital age to step into a universe with such well-played, tasteful music, delivered by genuine musicians in beautiful harmony... Without any misunderstanding, because the music is also captivating and challenging, it is simply delightful to listen to the second album from the David Miilmann Group. It is accessible in a positive sense and never closes in on itself...
Precisely for this reason, 'What’s Left' is such an astonishing album. It ends up appearing extremely modern by daring to stand firm on its own qualities. This is only possible when those qualities are as high as they are here." - / 6 - Erik Jensen.
